Anyone know who to contact about aprs.fi website specifically? Searching through their website, nobody seems to want credit for the site itself.

They need to know that they aren't properly attributing the copyright for OpenStreetMap when one selects OSM for the underlying map in the upper left hand corner. Instead it seems to attribute OSM contributors' work to some big company in the lower left corner. While it's not much of anything, it kind of feels wrong when ones' work in OSM is attributed to that company.

Since their forums is also associated with that big company I don't particularly want to communicate there... Any ideas?

It's more of eating my own poo since I edit OSM to keep it up to date. Hard to fault aprs.fi as it was probably a simple oversight - at least they wanted to use an creative commons map, with the bonus of no licensing fees. However I really want it to say the map as "(c) Openstreetmap contributors" instead of "(c) BigFatCompanyEatingEverything" that probably wanted to charge them for using their map in the first place at some point due to the number of hits they were getting...

Heikki wrote all of the aprs.fi code. He can be found on Twitter and Facebook. But as someone else stated, normally these problems are related to other data sources that aprs.fi depends on and is likely out of his control. If they are a big enough problem, it's brought to someone's attention and remedied quickly. Remember, this is a hobby and non of us are making money on this. We're sure as hell not getting rich! :D

Right, we aren't making money off of this, I just want to make sure that the right people get attributed/blamed. At least me, as an OpenStreetMaps contributor, I don't want my artwork be claimed as Google artwork. However I don't need it saying "(c) needairtime" -- I am not the only contributor -- so as long as it says "(c) OSM Contributors" as it should, everything is dandy.

Aprs.fi is not the only website that uses OSM data, however, it's the only one that appears to be attributing data to the wrong source. Because it's a no profit resource using a no profit data source, people don't complain, but I think we should complain when some incorrect source gets credit.

(BTW, I hope people see what I'm talking about if one browses aprs.fi and select "OSM"? Or perhaps people don't understand where the map data comes from? But it seems that aprs.fi seems to snapshot data as some of my past half month or so drawings are not showing up -- though the older ones clearly are.)

Alas, I am neither on Twitter or Facebook either. Ahh...
