Oh the days of UHF/VHF i feel like a DINOSAUR

:roll: WILL SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME !, i am on like night 5 of reading thru the (DUMB) manual , and surfing several scanner web pages,, i am getting an understanding of trunked systems , but to get them too work is a whole nother thang,, I used to scan with an old pro-23 when my county and philadelphia used to be analog vhf/uhf but they went digital a few years back,, and i am just now catching up,, i finally broke down and bought a pro-96 i want to be able to program this manually and understand it ,, is there a guide out there anywhere ???
that will show me step by step instructions ? i need NJ state police i understand they are a motorola type IIi and i have the frequencies ,, now what do i do?
please any help would be mucho appreciado

i would go to this website http://www.starrsoft.com/software/Win96/ and purchse this program, and purchase a cable to you can hook you scanner to a computer, it makes programming so much easier.
you can get the cable here http://www.scannercables.com/
it makes it much easier to work witht his scanner, I know how you feel i was totally frustrated two weeks ago. but be patient, you will get it.....good luck Mike

With the Pro-96 you only need to enter the Control Channel(s). First, pick the bank you want to put your trunked system in, then press - program- then press trunk. It should tell you 'Not trunked press mode". Now you want to press the mode button untul you see "MO"

Now go back to the freq. programming mode and enter the Control Channel(s) only! There is no need to enter all of the other ones, just make sure you program ALL Control Channels. Make sure after you enter each freq. you push the mode button to change it from FM to MO. Do this with each trunked freq. you program.

Now you need to program your Talkgroups. BTW.. this is all much easier to do with the WIN96 software. www.starrsoft.com Programming TG's manually is very very tedious. Especially on a big system with hundreds of them.

I think you can figure the rest out by reading the manual. Hope this gave you the head start you needed!
