Also heard CUDA 01 and SNIPER 01 flights (122nd FW IN ANG) working Jefferson Range. Freq flow was U5 284.600 FWA A/D > U16 360.775 ZID > U17? 350.225 ZID > U15 343.000 JEFFERSON RANGE. CUDA was on 139.750, SNIPER was on 138.300. FACs at the range were SLUGGER xx (w/CUDA) and BRAVO 41 (w/SNIPER).

CHAIN, NUKE, and BLADE (all x2) were training last evening in Buckeye, but I wasn't able to monitor them.

Currently (1338 local) hearing SNIPER 01 (x2) enroute to Jefferson Range from KFWA...same freqs as yesterday, but I haven't heard them use an airtac yet.

349.400 TEAM 21 clg WPAFB CONTROL

1\11\10
344.600 REACH 220 clg WPAFB

I didn't hear TEAM 21 with Buckeye Control (only logged two Army C-12s that day). It's possible they were out of range from my location - and the 445th radios are notoriously weak, so they may have not made contact.

REACH 220 (C-130J-30, 07-46311) - called Metro for weather at CYYT, CYQX, CYJT, and CYYR

The unidentified 143.750 has been used by the Springfield F-16s somewhat recently...that may be the origin.

Patterson, 1/21:

RHINO 90 (C-5A, 70-0461) - to KHST (via KFFO > TRIVO > CVG > FLM > J43 > VXV > J46 > AMG > J45 > OMN > ANNEY1)
RHINO 03 (C-5A, 70-0453) - training, landed early for issue with left winshield, parking A7, ERCC to RHINO 50
PAT 655 (C-12, unid) - pax dropoff
POLK 25 (E-4B, 75-0125?) - called Metro (contacted Dispatch due to radio issues) for weather at KOFF
HX 760 (2x AH-1Z, 166760, 166772?) - arrival
PAT 655 (C-12, unid) - to KATL
RHINO 50 (C-5A, 70-0453) - training, ERCC from RHINO 03, landed early for issue with flaps
AVALON 39 (C-9C, 73-1683) - called Metro for weather at KBLV
SUNNY 393 (UC-12B, 161500) - pax dropoff, 150-200 gal fuel; to KNCA

ZID-1 track and Charlie A ATCAA are both active this morning - listen for an E-3 that should be flying at that time.

Also monitor the AF1 orderwire (362.250 WFM). POTUS is headed to Cleveland today.

Heard nothing so far on my mil air freqs as I monitored off and on this morning, but I did hear a solid open carrier on 362.25 late this morning, for about 1/2 hour or so. Verified inside, outside, with 2 different radios and antennas. It was solid and strong, and then just like that it was gone.

I didn't hear an AWACS either - no TOD signal, so maybe they cancelled. Sounds like you definately picked up the orderwire, though.

Any northern Ohio listeners:

RHINO 50 (C-5A, 70-0447) is preparing to depart Patterson for refueling work in AR-220 with an unknown tanker. Buckeye Control reports to RHINO 50 that the tanker is in the green. Frequencies to listen for:

274.450 AR-220 PRIMARY
282.700 AR-220 SECONDARY
291.650 AR-220 EXIT
299.200 AR-220 ENTRY

RHINO 50 airborne at 1730 local.

Freq flow (will change as long as I can hear it): 126.500 DAY A/D > 120.475 ZID > 134.000 ZID > 120.400 ZOB (a/c out of range)

Should be entering the AR track very soon. If anyone picks it up, please post what you hear!

NORAD exercise flights planned over Ohio

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colorado – February 4, 2010 The North American Aerospace Defense Command will conduct exercise flights in the skies in the vicinity of the Toledo, Youngstown and Canton areas of Ohio. The flights will take place in the mid-afternoon, and people can expect to hear and see NORAD fighter aircraft in close proximity with general aviation aircraft as they practice their intercept and identification procedures.

The exercise has been carefully planned and will be closely controlled to ensure NORAD’s rapid response capability.

NORAD has conducted exercise flights of this nature throughout the U.S. and Canada since the start of Operation Noble Eagle, the command’s response to the terrorist attacks that occurred on Sept. 11, 2001. Each exercise flight utilizes a scenario to test NORAD’s response, systems and equipment. Scenarios could include counter-drug operations, aircraft in distress, aircraft defecting, hijacking, unknown aircraft, Dangerous Military Activity, Temporary Flight Restriction violation or airborne terrorist.

Since Sept. 11, 2001, NORAD fighters have responded to more than 3,300 possible air threats in Canada and the United States.
