Which system(s) need rebanding settings?

All public safety Motorola Type II systems that use frequencies from 866-869 MHz will reband, such as the old MARCS Type II system (rebanded this past year).

P25 systems are not affected..

I have read that users on the MARCS Motorola Type II system should be moved over to MARCS-IP Phase 1 by March 2015. Is there any knowledge when Phase 2 will come along? Soon after that or later?

There haven't been any announcements regarding upgrading the existing system to Phase II. The only reason to move to Phase II would be a lack of available frequencies. As it stands now, that's not an issue.

Ok, that sounds good. I just sold (2) PRO-197 scanners and didn't want them to stop "hearing" in a few months. Will the PRO-197 support Phase 2? Now, I have to decide which scanner to buy myself!

The PRO-197 does not support Phase 2. You will need a Home Patrol - II, BCD436HP, BCD536HP, GRE PSR-800 (discontinued/rare) or a Whistler 1080.

No scanner supports it - DSD is about it. AFAIK.

Now will the 996XT pick up the new MARCS-IP system? I am coming back home for a week next month and I want to update my SE Ohio list mostly Washington county area with the new system. Was just wanting to make sure I wasn't wasting my time or memory on the scanner doing it.

Yes, the 996XT will monitor MARCS:IP as the system is currently transmitting Phase I.
