I know i read a post on this somewhere but can't seem to find it now. I want to monitor the marcs system in the cleveland area. cuyahoga, medina;lorain, and lake counties. can i program all the freqs. for these areas in 1 bank? or should i put them in seperate banks. If i can put them in 1 bank should i program cc only?

If you have the PRO-96, you can enter all the sites (Downtown Cleveland, Lake County, Chesterland, Beachwood, etc...) into one bank. Just make sure you put a blank or a conventional channel in between the control channels for each site.

I have one bank in my PRO-96 set up like this:

Downtown Cleveland
NPSPAC 1
Grafton
NPSPAC 2
Chesterland
NPSPAC 3
Richfield
NPSPAC 4
Hopkins Airport
NPSPAC 5
Nimishila
Blank
Lake County
Blank
Elyria
Blank
Shalesville
Blank
Beachwood

It works fine for me

If you have one of the Uniden scanners, you need to enter each site into a seperate bank.

MARCS Setup

Hi all,
Just exactly, which site is Downtown Cleveland? For Cuyahoga County I see 4 sites (North, South East and Southwest). All of them?

If you have the Uniden BC296D (which i bought due to its greater freq ranges unaware of its inferiorities to the Pro96 in terms of trunking and audio quality)...

You do not have to enter each CC into a different bank. You can program multiple sites (control channel only) into one bank. When signal quality goes down, it will search out for the next best site.

The Pro96 can apparently track multiple 800 Mhz systems within the same bank! all you have to do is split them up by a conventional frequency in between.

Ive never tried this on my BC296D and dont know if this is possible with it as well.

I have the whole state of ohio setup just like the MARCS zones 1-4 (do an internet search to see what counties the state considers part of Z1, Z2, etc.). It takes up 4 banks. The biggest problem I have is that MARCS has so many talkgroups and the UNiden can only handle 100 per bank (I believe the Pro96 can handle many many more).

The other thing I LOATHE about the UNiden is sound quality settings. Frequently, you have to get in there and change the sound quality depending on the site you listen to. Major PITA when mobile monitoring.
