If you really want to monitor Ohio MARCS, a scanner is your best bet by far.

That wasn't the question i have a uniden 396xt with marcs on it but my local police and fire is on provoice. So i bought a m/a com radio. It will do provoive p25 and edacs. Thats why i posted it in pro radio section but some body moved it.

I moved it because the only question you asked in your original post was about a specific site on the Ohio MARCS system.

Nothing in your post really makes sense though. If your local police is Provoice, then why are you asking about MARCS? There's no Provoice on MARCS.

Ok. That really wasn't clear as you mentioned NOTHING about Provoice and plenty about MARCS.
Best of luck in your quest.

City police and fire are provoice. Sheriff township fire and state patrol is on marcs and city services on edacs. The issue im having with programing marcs is with the specific radio i was asking about being able to receive the marcs frequency. Thats why i posted it in the m/a com radio forum.

Two things. First the only Harris radios that will work on MARCS P25 system are the 7200 series, 7300 series, unity xg-100 series, the xg-75 series and xg-25 portable.

Second, the radio would need to be programmed by MARCS or a radio shop that has an agreement to program radios for MARCS. Your agency, if your with an agency, would need to have an agreement with MARCS to have radios on their system.

You can't just buy a radio and program it for MARCS. Even official MARCS users have to pay a fee per radio. Sounds like the ebay dealer owes you a refund.

MARCS is a system not a frequency. Yes one can but a radio and program it to receive EDACS and ProVoice but this is not possible with a P25 system likes MARCS-IP.

Yes the Springfield MARCS-IP site is 700 MHz so you will need a radio capable of receiving that band segment.

Receive only would not be an issue - if he xmits - it would be bricked, locked out, ignored, or whatevered :)

You don't even have to transmit, it's going to try and affiliate with the site when you turn it on. Someone who knows more about radios than I do, please feel free to correct me but as soon as you turn it on they know it's there.

To affiliate it must xmit.
