Hey all,

The Ohio State Patrol uses several frequencies for mobile extenders or vehicle repeaters which they are sometimes called. They can be found on such freqs as 465.375MHz, 465.525MHz, ect.

Now with OSP using the State of Ohio MARCS system, I was wanting to know if they are still using the 465MHz freqs or have they gone to something else and scrapped them. If they are using a different system, could someone plese give me some information and some freqs for it.

Also FYI........ Osp Post 40 (Jackson and Vinton Counties) are now online on the MARCS
system and seem to have stopped useage of their 44MHz freqs. Some cars have been heard on the 42MHz "TAC" channels for car to car.

Any infomation will be greatly helpful

Thanks and have a great day

As far as I can tell, the old Mobile Extenders have been interfaced to the new MARCS radios. I have heard activity on 465.525 in my area in the past, even after the switch to MARCS.

However, someone told me that they saw a Patrolman at a crash scene with an XTS-5000 (a MARCS handheld radio). I do not know what post this Patrolman was from, and I haven't listened to 465.525 in a while to know if it is still in use in my area.

My guess is that whether the Extenders are still used or not varies by post. In some areas, the MARCS coverage might be good enough to scrap the Extenders. In other areas, it might not. So, I can't really say for sure.

Thanks guys for the info.

I kinda thought the MARCS system would be good and, that the extenders would be scraped. I pick up stuff on 465.365MHz in my area in Southeastern Ohio. I have also picked up some on 465.525MHz and 465.550MHz.

As I stated before, my local post just went online on the MARCS system. I seen a officer on a traffic stop and never locked on any of the extender frequencies so, I thought of the MARCS system or I thought they went to something else.

Again thanks for the info

Have a good day

Is there a standard for the extender freqs? Or rather a list of common extender freqs?

I have Sheriffs up here daily so I can easily run a quick scan and try and get some freq's for the Batavia Post.

Thanks.

Searching for MREs

A lot of departments will use the splinter frequencies in the 465.000 - 466.000 range
for MREs. Try searching that band for a few weeks and you may find other agencies besides OSP there!
Just remember MREs have a very limited range and they do not reach much beyond a mile or so.

Funny thing is that line of sight I am about a mile give or take a little from the Sheriffs transmitter.
And roughly the same distance from the very large transmitter across the street from them.

I will keep y'all updated.

Strange. The FCC lookup with the Google Maps isnt working for that particular callsign.

I know its not going to as they are Mobiles but Maybe lindsay should look into a default setup for Mobiles.

I love the Maps setup though lol.

Its just amazing how closely I love to the towers yes have no interferance.
