What "interoperability and new technology" that is in place might you be speaking about?

Most agencies won't put out broadcasts such as that without having it come from a teletype since the teletype is the only method by which they can verify:

1) That the message originated from a law enforcement agency.
2) What law enforcement agency the message originated from.

SORRY, accidently hit enter,

The only "update" I seen wrong was that Edmond Police, should have woke up, and issued the "AMBER ALERT" earlier, this happened around 15:15, And the alert came out at around 19:30, thats too long.

But I'll be keeping my eye out for this vehicle. Just wish their was more to go on. And hope that the girl will returned safely.

From what I heard after I got off work last night, the alert is based on a single report from a 13-year-old who says she saw somebody forcing a girl into a car. As of 10 PM last night, there was no missing person report filed by anybody. So no doubt EPD was trying to verify the report, but decided in the end to issue the alert, to be on the safe side. I understand the Alert has been canceled, although police are still checking.

I can't say what the proper procedure should be in situations like this, I'm just not sure that an Amber Alert was appropriate in this case.
