I made a little road trip to Altus yeserday. I noticed something interesting on the OHP cars in the area. EVERY trooper's car in the Troop G (Lawton) and Troop M (Altus) area has the "blade" type sattelite antenna. The ones I saw in Troop G had laptop computers in the car. I wasn't able to check any of the cars in Troop M, but it ooks like the Satteite MDT's are in place in rural OHP cars.
The other interesting thing I noticed was the Troop G cars had 800MHz antennas on the roof of the cars. Again, I did not have the opportunity to check out the actual radio set up in the cars, but the antennas and their placement were exactly the same as the troopers cars in the metro with 800MHz radios. Perhaps the buildout of the 800MHz system along I-44 is closer than we thought.
I checked the frequencies recently licensed for the system in Elgin and Lawton. No control channel yet
