Two questions:

1) A friend of mine has noticed several OHP officers making traffic stops on I-40 wearing green uniforms, slightly resembling "flight suits." Does anyone know what division of OHP these guys are with and what their roles are?

2) Do OHP and Oklahoma County have access to Air One (police helicoptor) or is Air One solely used by Oklahoma City? What do these agencies do if they need air support? I know that the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (OBNDD) works with US Customs aircraft.

1) Those troopers in the green jump suits are with Troop SO or Special Ops (OHPs flight suits are tan colored). Troop SO handles criminal interdiction such as the K-9s and other "super secret anti-crime" activities. Those troopers almost always will be assigined a Suburban to carry all of thier gear. Troop SO troopers answer to a "Sierra" callsign.

2) OHP acquired two used Bell 206 Kiowas a few years ago. One is based at Wiley Post here in OKC and the other, I believe is based in Tulsa. OK County Sheriff Whetsel would love to have his own air unit, but for now has to call on OCPD's Air One on a Mutual Aid basis. OBNDD does work some with the US Customs Service or ICE. They also use the Oklahoma National Guard's 206 Kiowa based at Westheimer in Norman. That bird is outfitted with the usual expensive surveillance equipment.

Yeah, pretty much, all the area LEA's, like OCSO, Bethany, etc., use OCPD's Air One from time to time. It's not often, but it does happen. There's usually a felony fugitive involved, like armed robbery.

P.S. I've also heard OCPD's K9 units sharing with other agencies when requested.
