I have a Rat Schack Pro 96 scanner. I am trying to listen to El Paso PD/FD. RR says it is partial analog partial digital. How come when I program my scanner with the control channel I get the computer "noise" but when in scan mode I hear nothing?

Thanks,

Pete

Are you programming in all the available channels? That means all 20 of those channels (1 control channel + 19 voice channels) in the 850-860 MHz range, listed in our database. I do not think the Pro-96 can handle "Control Channel Only" trunking, like some of the newer digital scanners.

The Pro-96 was the original "set it and forget it" CCh only scanner. The Unidens of the day could be programmed for CCh only, but you had to figure out what type (of 4 available) it was, and to be honest that entire scenerio did not work correctly as not all setups fit into the neat choices they provided; so yes it can do CCh only.

Please note, as stated on the page, it is a splinter system. That means if you are programming it by hand or software, you need to choose "Splinter" when picking the system type.

Are you using software? If so, which? If not, then I think (if memory serves) that the choice is made while in programming mode -> trunking -> Func + 3. (But don't hold my feet to the fire on that, it has been a long time since I programmed my 96, much less by hand.)

Not sure witch one they use, but I would say put 859.1, 859.2, 859.25, 860.15, 860.2, 860.25 if its this El Paso (Primary) Trunking System, El Paso, Texas - Scanner Frequencies system or put 866.4375 and 866.0875 in if its this El Paso Project 25 Regional Communications System Trunking System, El Paso, Texas - Scanner Frequencies system, or put both in there own bank and scan both. hope this helps:)

Definitly will need it that way.

LOVE AND BLESSINGS
