• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Yes... you can download Uniden's "UASD" software. Until you register it, there is somewhat limited programming (you have to name systems "Conventional", etc.).

http://uniden.com/index/downloads.cfm?product=BCT15UASD

Also, Butel is working on software for the 996 (and probably for the BCT15):

If police frequencies are periodically cutting into your monitoring, try pressing the "Pol" and "HP" buttons until nothing is shown across the bottom of the display that looks like "BT, HP, PL, DT". You probably have one of these Beartracker options turned on.

Thanks for the offer, but I honestly think it would be a great learning experience if you've never done it before. Maybe someone else will jump in here and take you up on the offer.

Essentially, you've got "Systems" and "Groups". A "System" is either a conventional or trunked. A "Group" is either a collection of frequencies (conventional system) or a collection of trunked talkgroups (trunked system).

See below for more information:
