Has anyone heard of an approximate date when the new Okaloosa County system will go in service?

I'm in the next county over, Santa Rosa, and monitor Okaloosa. What's expected to happen over there?

They are updating their county radio system to 700 mhz.

Here's some good reading about what the county wants to see out of a proposed system. Quotes were asked for a year ago. Depending on if the county has a funding mechanism in place, it could be several years before a system has boots on the ground.

Any new information on the new P25 System? I plan to head down to Okaloosa in about a month.

They were issued a 5-site simulcast license in June of this year, however, nothing is listed in the RRDB. This system may, or may not, actually be built yet.

Yes real dude. My apologizes, I misread your post.
When I lived in Bay County it took a year or so before they went to their p25 system. If your scanner or dsdplus doesn't see any Control Channel(s) check once a month. Last time I know of FD/EMS is on SLERS.
Yeah FWB and Niceville are still on DMR. Which I'm not able to receive them since I'm bringing my 75XLT with me so that I can still tune in the Sheriff Central and East District Dispatch as well as the FD Station Tone-Outs including South Walton too.
New system will now be using 800 MHz with Phase II. 12 new Site Towers will be bulit. Expected to be simulcast for most of them. The Sheriff Dispatch Consoles are now upgraded to the new system as well as the current conventional frequencies that are still in place. The plan to make the system to go live will be around next summer (Mid-2024).

I recently heard from a fire official, who said the county is still in the process of installing/setting up their towers. In addition, no radio has yet to be issued to his department. He didn't seem to optimistic that it would be in operation anytime soon.
Anyone know if the new system will be encrypted?

I would imagine the law enforcement side will be encrypted. Hopefully not the fire departments.
Hopefully FWB PD isn’t included. There DMR system is less then 10 years old so I wouldn’t think they would switch over to the new county system.

It is supposed to be every PS agency in the county.
