Digital transmission?

I'm not sure about this, but I think when they are transmitting digital...it's often confused with encryption. They can transmit in analog and go "encrypted" on any given tg. But when transmitting in digital, nothing is monitorable.

Ok, so why does everyone in this thread keep refering to okc encypting thier channels? If it isnt encryption, then why call it that?

That's kind of a running problem. Some people can't seem to get the differences between digital audio (even using a proprietary format) and digital encryption straight.

As I understand it, OKC will be using non-encrypted Pro-Voice digital. Unless or until there is a scanner released that will decode (not decrypt) Pro-Voice, I doubt that OKC will have much need to actually encrypt their communications. But, to the scannerist, the end result will be the same, nothing to listen to. (Unless you like white noise.)

Sounds like they're testing the paging system and my emergency indicator beeped at me on several keyups

background noise, can hear someone talking...but can't make out what they are saying...

short beep..."1,2,3,4,5...test"

keyup no voice or background noise

I haven't heard much out of them today. The control channels have vanished as I type this. Next time they are up I will jot down some TG's.

After a few days of silence OKC is testing again.
02-041 is using the recording this morning.

OKC DIGITAL!!

They are now testing in digital - TG 274 - using Radio ID 201 (ID'd in Analog as "Console A" a couple of weeks ago). This is being patched to both sites - TG 289 in analog, TG 274 in Digital, and TG 16384 in "Type F".

(added @ 11:00 PM) - the digital TG seems to have disappeared from the data channel - but all the carriers seem to be active on all the channels - and one of them seems to have the digital audio stuck on - odd.

Testing is active again tonight - on TG 273 in analog, and 274 in digital.

"Test 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1"

(don't know what's going on in digital)

They seem to be keying up at about the same interval and staying keyed for about the same time, so it's probably just the same recording.

The signals being transmitted for long periods of time during the testing may be related to bringing the system into proper calibration.
