I heard two individuals discussing the Fire Alert Tones on a local Amateur Repeater. If they were talking about the "musical tones" that play immediately before every dispatch, I heard the long slow tones as well.
In the first days of dispatching over the EDACS, I heard the dispatcher playing the tones during an early radio check and explaining what the different tone sequences mean. Boop de boop ... de boop - "This is your medical call tones"; Be Boop ... Be Boop ... Be Boop, "This is your radio check tones" (I feel incredibly stupid writing this :lol.
The long slow tones preceeded a Signal 82 (motor vehicle accident with injury for those reading this from out of the area). I have been focusing my monitoring efforts elsewhere recently and haven't been listening to the EDACS. Perhaps they have added a Signal 82 song to their playlist.
If they were talking about something else, I apologize for butting in.
