OKC EDACS Mobile Units

Well it appears that the unmarked PD vehicles are taking their new radios. The LID's are all in the 9000 range. The bulk of the activity is in the Bank 3 talkgroups that are encrypted so identifying them is tough. The vehicles with the installs that are active all appear to be unmarked cars. I am registering about 50 new radios a day right now. These could also be installs in patrol vehicles that have been radio tested on the system but are not in service yet.

Appears you are quite correct sir. Cruisers has a bunch of them out front just now, including the Taurus's. They are also still working. I will be going back by again in a few hours. Wonder if they will still be at it?

I know CEV out in Yukon has a huge order starting soon. They are going to be running two shifts everyday. Wonder what department they got a contract with?

Rumor has it that the new computer software is still a ways off.

I guess they are going to figure out how to make the new computers work with the MDT server and roll the cars out. We may see some patrol vehicles sooner than expected.

First Patrol vehicle on the street

Saw one of the new marked units that only has EDACS equipment, no VHF, on patrol today @ 36th & MLK about 11:30am. This was my first sighting away from the outfitting garages.

Anybody else seen a marked unit actually in service or can I make this the first official report?

Saw one two days ago, north boud Hefner Parkway. It was about 6:15am. As for new cars, I can't imagine NEW cars coming out and them NOT being setup. Word has it on the street there is a relatively short list running around for each division showing which officers will get new cars first. We shall see.
