I sometimes listen to the OKC fire department and when they dispatch their calls, they always announce something at the end of every call. It sounds to me like "map page ## ##" or "mep page ## ##". Does anyone know what they are saying and what it refers to? I've never been able to figure it out. Thanks.

answer: Map page ## ##, They are giving the map page of an oklahoma City Atlas and grid location........so the responding company can look at the atlas faster without having to look up the street location in the back of the atlas....Dbestfirefighter

That was my guess but I wasn't sure if it made sense. I've seen some pretty nice equipment in the cabs of the engines and I kind of figured it would have included GPS or some kind of map computer. Thanks for your help.

I wish someone would give us a map page when we have to run down into parts of Okmulgee county. Instead, they tell us to turn off the siren, roll down the windows and listen for the banjos. :)

Twobravo,

While you're cruising to the call with your window down, just stick your nose out the window and slow down abit, when you start smelling that pharmaceutical smell, you'll know you're getting closer to your call. :)

Yep instead of telling me there's a red Chevy pickup out front, they tell me, it's the place with all of the iodine bottles on the porch. :)

Has anyone else noticed that the OKCFD dispatchers are not giving the "Time Out..." anymore?
Wonder why that is?

Maybe they send all of their times via alpha pager like some ambulances services do? Maybe they fill out a little mini run sheet on a computer and send it to the station so the crew can access it when they get back? It could have the times, callers information, and dispatch call notes, etc. That would make sense.

Well with everything being digital with the MDT's and radio they do not have to give the time out for the recording. Sometimes they still do though out of habit and probably procedure.
I know that they do not have pagers for call outs. They have the MDT terminals and station printers too I believe.

every station has a "hot printer" when they get a call the lights come on in the station, the doors open and the "hot printer' prints out what the call is, where, who is assigned, has a time on it, and who else is asssigned, along with any other info they might need. Then the tones come out on the radio and they get it all again.
