Have Radio Shack Pro-106 scanner and need help getting OKC Fire network & talk groups identified; have tried both the OKC Metro Public Service and OK Interop Network trunking groups (and respective talk groups), however, am not receiving any radio transmissions from OKC Fire; OKC Police and OHP work fine as well as other local fire departments (Edmond, MWC and Del City) -- any suggestions would be welcomed - thanks/Mark - Jones, OK

The pro 106 will not work okc police and fire they are on simulcast system the scanner you would need is sds 100 or sds 200 or also unication G4 the okc police has links to the Oklahoma wireless system

Thank you for your note back - I am not well-versed in terminology, so apologies in advance -- all of the OKC Police talk groups listed in the OK Interop Network work perfect; the Fire Department talk groups are not working in either trunk groups I've tried ... Mark

All of the talkgroups on the Oklahoma City Metro Public Safety trunked system are P25 Phase 2 (T in Mode column). The PRO-106 is capable of decoding P25 Phase 1 only. It cannot receive the system. You are able to receive talkgroups on the OKWIN trunked system because they are currently all P25 Phase 1 (D in Mode column).

Tvengr - thank you very much - also helps me understand what Jon1984 was saying above - I have not even looked at my scanner in many years & just now getting back into it and learning the terminology - looks as if I may be in the market for a new scanner - again, very much appreciated and your responses were very helpful. The Oklahoma City site is simulcast. I would recommend the Uniden SDS100 handheld or SDS200 base/mobile. They are the only scanners specifically designed to receive simulcast sites. The Unication G4 and G5 pagers are also excellent for simulcast sites but the scanners are far more versatile.

Have just retired and don't want to spend that much money on a new scanner ... from my uneducated research perspective, it sounds like more and more entities are going encrypted (like EMSA) ... I understand why, but loved the old days of radio scanners before trunking systems - I may simply do a "Broadcastify" premium subscription for a year and see what happens ... again thanks to both of you for responding and helping me get back up to speed on terminology /Mark
