Does anybody in the OKC area know what these are? I have one list showing these operating on TG 31760, is this the case and if so is it still an SMA 1A designation.

Tom units are usually Training units. It's rare but not unheard of for them to do real trooper work.

Haven't been monitoring since I've been out of state, but is it possible that the Tom units are active due to the manhunt in G Troop? Coming back from Texas yesterday I heard several Troop F units advising Ardmore that they were back in the district from their participation in the manhunt, and discussing the mobilization effort. Apparently a major part of their air assets were down there, one of the troopers was an Ocean unit in his ground unit.

By Tom, are you refering to, for exaple, what the dispatcher says when he/she calls the unit? Like Tom 290, or Tom 355? (where 290 and 355 are the unit numbers?) I've always wondered what those abreviations where for. I've heard Tom, Xray, Baker, Charlie, etc. Do those mean anything? Thanks!!

I haven't heard any traffic on the ID from OKC yet, I just had a list of ID's and what they were for and that ID says Tom unit's on it. As for what the names mean, each department has a different meaning for them. In Tulsa they represent the district the officer works in.

The main OKC PD patrol units are:
  • Adam Units (Will Rogers Division, Central OKC)
  • Baker Units (Hefner Division, NW OKC)
  • Charlie Units (Spring Lake Division, NE OKC)
  • Delta Units (Santa Fe Division, SW OKC)
  • Edward Units (also Santa Fe division, SE OKC)

(The letters are correct, and I think I have the associated phonetic alphabet words correct).

William units

I agree Sam units are weights/measures. I always thought William units were the lake patrol. There is a troop W station on Birch lake near Barnsdall. I also hear W units on Keystone lake.

I'm not sure if it was OKC PD or OHP...but I heard "John" units checking in and out. I couldn't look at my scanner because I was driving in this nasty weather on the Kilpatrick...

Anyone know of these?

thanks

Thanks!

I need to start making a list of all these because they're so many of them!

Would that also be the new CSR's...I think that's what they're called..... that work the downtown area?

OHP Sierra units are Special Op units (Drug Interdiction). Sam and William units are size and weight units.

Interesting. The size and weights unit here in Payne County uses the Sierra prefix.

If you happen to monitor 45.18/45.22 MHz, or any of the associated relays, it could be Enid units (Troop J). I've noticed the low-band skip phenomenon can be interesting in central Oklahoma. I often pick-up a relay carrying Clinton OHP traffic on my handheld, in Stillwater. Anyway, enough of this for me, I keep forgeting we're in the Oklahoma "trunking" forum.
