Supposed to go in effect here in a few months, motorola system I believe. I'm a crime writer at a newspaper up here and we are going to have to upgrade our scanners.

We just have handheld sportcan 180's right now, and are probably gonna need to spend a little money to get this going.

The PD up here is trying to sell us a system for 3k that will monitor it all, but that dosen't seem like a good idea.

We have cars that need to be able to scan the 800mhz digital trunk system as well as handhelds and base units. Anyone have any ideas on what would be good to get?

We had thought about setting up an intranet system on our network so reporters could monitor from their desks, but I really don't know about the new systems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. It is worrysome that the state newspaper might not be able to monitor the Oklahoma City PD and Emergency.

Edit:: GAH! Thought I put this in the oklahoma forum, wrong window sorry. PM'd Mod to move it.

The Oklahoma City trunked system is an EDACS systems and it will be using ProVoice, so ther are no scanners available to monitor it.

If the city is offering a radio to monitor them, I'm afraid you will have to take them up on it...
