Oklahoma city Help with Whistler 1040

I am new to police scanners and need some help. I used psredit.com to program my scanner. It downloaded all of the selected Oklahoma County area dept. i wanted. It scans but it is only hits on okcfd tones lots of beeps an boops wont pick up anything else. I listened to a scanner app i have on my phone at the same time and it is hitting and the 1040 isnt. was wonder if there is a setting or if i didnt download it correctly.

Sounds like you may have only downloaded/imported conventional channels. You'll want to import and try out some of the trunk systems for your area:

Looking more closely, alot of the OK EDACS system is using ProVoice and your radio won't decode that.

Have you looked at the various systems, etc on the RRDB and determined what you want to monitor?

note the A, D, or M in the 3rd column -- you won't be able to hear the "D" at all or the "M" if/when they are in digital mode.

There is no upgrade available for your WS1040 so that it can receive ProVoice.

The only scanners currently that can utilize a paid ProVoice upgrade are Uniden models: BCD325P2, BCD996P2, BCD436HP, and BCD536HP. The current cost is $60.00 per scanner for the upgrade.

ProVoice is an option for EDACS trunking systems. Manufacturer support for EDACS is ending, and most agencies with EDACS systems are moving to a more current system type. In my area, Dallas/Fort Worth, DFW Airport is moving from their current EDACS/ProVoice system to a P25 (digital) Phase II system.

Looking at the database page for Oklahoma County, I see notes that the county Sheriff's dispatch is moving to a P25 Phase II system. If the city also moves to that system, your WS1040 would not work on a Phase II system. I know that in a few cases, the agencies using EDACS/ProVoice have a contract that mandates the manufacturer support their ProVoice systems past the termination date. Whether that is the case for the system in your city, I have no idea. That question would be better asked in the Oklahoma Regional Forum.

I would suggest that you request your thread be moved to the Oklahoma forum. Someone there might have information of any upgrades or changes planned for this system. To do that, do not create a new thread. Instead, click on the red outlined triangle in the upper right corner of your original post, and request that a moderator move your thread to the state forum.
