Hello All,

I have an idea ive been thinking about,
Is anyone here in the Oklahoma area Interested in HF/Shortwave??
If so I would be cool to start a club to go to areas in Oklahoma or Surrouning Areas like Dallas, Witchata, etc.

Ive been going to Eufaula, and other places in Oklahoma for my own Dxpedition trips but it would be a lot more fun if other people were there,

Its summertime and people are starting to go places like the lakes, camping, etc.
If people were interested why not trun those into Dxpeditions

If this could get going, it will be mostly oncentrated on receiving and share one anothers findings, info, and experences

Say for example one trip would be like this,
We could meet at Lake Murry state park, or if possible carpool
Bring your equipment.....Radios, antennas, tent, BBQ, logs, whatever you wish
Stay a weekend of Dxing

If anyone is intersted, or have any ideas let me know, I think it would be real fun to get something like this going

There's several groups that do this already. WW5DX - Green Country Contesters, OKDXA, several of the area ham clubs. Every year OKDXA sponsors the OK QSO Party and a number of people go "rover" and activate rare counties, and it happens again on VHF/UHF when TARC hosts the VHF (and up) County Shootout on the fall. Area clubs get together and do "field" work several times a year (and not just Field Day) from unusual locations.

I think he is talking about something a bit more interesting. i.e. utility stations, pirates, International SW AM broadcasters etc. ?

You're talking about the opposite (sort of) of a ham dxpedition. When hams go on a dxpedition, like the ones OKDXA sponsors, they go to some far off place to *transmit*. You want to go somewhere to *receive*. I've heard of clubs that do that for MW (AM broadcast), but not for SW. At any rate, they're not local.

Maybe google around for "MW DX" or "BCB DX"?

Radio is a big hobby - there's probably SOMEBODY that has a club like this.
