I have monitored Troop C in Muskogee, Oklahoma. I have heard them on both trunking systems, OKWIN. However, I was completely unaware that there was a low band patch.

In order to hear Oklahoma Hypos, you need to have a scanner capable of trunking. At present, it seems like you can hear OHP on the Motorola trunking and P25 system. If you want to hear the latter, you will need to either buy a Dongle package or a digital scanner.

Not all OHP. Troop D in McAlester is still low band and will remain low band for the foreseeable future.

Low band is all that will work in the Ouachita mtns of SE OK without spending major capitol the state doesn't have.

Another reason you're hearing less traffic on any OHP frequency is due to MobileCOP. Troopers no longer need to contact headquarters for 28's 29's 43's & 44's.

My father was communications supervisor at Troop D for 30 years. I can tell you first hand, radio traffic, at least for troop D, has dropped off 95% compared to what it was a decade ago.

ohs trp C, eastern part

I have been monitoring troop c for many years as well here on the Arkansas and Oklahoma state line with know problems on the low bands, and you are correct about troop D as I still hear them quite clearly albeit not as much as we used to as you pointed out the reasons and i concur. As of a couple weeks now I know longer hear Troop C at all on any of the low bands. all was well, then nothing. I have all the latest radios with full OKWINS databases loaded. what is weird is the 536 shows five bar signal strength and data symbol but zero audio from sites between state line and Muskogee. I am using a DPD directional 700/800 antenna up about 45 feet pointed that way and no audio. I should be able to hear something i would think?? Driving over to Tulsa I have heard them usually halfway up the pike between the gates. Anyone have any suggestions or info on how the Charlie cars are communicating on I40 westbound from arkansas to say Muskogee turnpike ??
Thanks in advance

What are these "sites" of which you reference? On the P25 system, there's Tahlequah & Gore on the RRDB. What else is there?

ref. sites

when the radio system is locked on OKWINS p25 it shows Talequah,Gore, and Muskogee but with signal varying 1 to four bars and no data symbol. Now, when i push department key on troop c, and then the channel button on trp. c dispatch it shows me five bars and the data symbol so i am really confused why I am not hearing anything on OKWINS period?? Lots of other depts. also show signal strength and data but know audio. occasional will hear troopers on the SEQ. and Adair county radios both vhf high for local traffic but thats it. would love for someone smarter than me to resolve my curiosity. by the way Arkansas AWINS reception is perfect for me no problems hearing that system for many miles, just west of me is the issue.
