I am planning a trip through Oklahoma. However, I would rather stab my eyes with knitting needles than drive through OKC with all of the detours and construction.

Typically, I go IH 35 to IH 44 toll. This is a wonderful way to go with respect to an almost seamless P25 radio system along this route. Either I am going to use the Kilpatrick Toll in OKC and cruise right through or take Highway 75 to IH 44 from DFW.

I am tempted to go through Muskogee, which is on the P25 system; however, I see that Pittsburg County is still using analog? I was rather shocked to see the lack of OKWIN P25 along the 75 route.

Yes, I am fully aware that IH 35 is a longer route, but I hate small town cop speed traps, particularly Stringtown.

I am coming from Wacko.

Any suggestions?

Seems like I-35 to I-44 would be better taking the kilpatric around OKC the Oklahoma highway patrol using the same talk group for kilpatric and turner

Wow good timing - I am actually just about to setup my Unication G5 for all the major troops I travel in Oklahoma.

I always take the US-75 route - rarely any cops except in the small towns - I like the change of scenery and like the drive so much better than driving through those boring Arbuckles and area of Texas line to South of Norman, OK.

So it seems to program this route may have to put in some 700 Mhz. Frequencies -
Oklahoma - Highway Patrol Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

So Troop E (Durant/Stringtown) - would I just put in those single Repeater frequencies for each?
Is dispatch still using 44.700 / 44.900 ?? Wow - so weird - not repeated on 700/800Mhz.?

Has anyone programmed this area of US-75 border (Caddo/Durant) up 75 to McAlester (Turnpike to Tulsa)???

Would love to see what that looks like....

In regards to the route, I-35 has a new bypass around OKC to Tulsa off of I-40, 35 to 240E to 40E to Kickapoo turnpike North into I44E to Tulsa. Kickapoo is 80 Mph also.

Thanks. I am going to have to look at an updated map.

Since I am coming from Waco, I would hit the traffic I am trying to avoid since it is a ways to IH40 via IH35. I suppose I could take 240E from IH35 to I44. I even thought of traveling west of IH35 to find a connecting road to the Kilpatrick Toll Road, south of OKC.

I love going through Muskogee because that is where my family came from. There are two places I would drive to in Muskogee, short trip: Chet's, with red hot dogs: Chets Dairy Freeze | Facebook and https://www.myplacebbqwest.com/. Make sure you go to this one rather than the one on Gibson, they use an electric smoker. The west location has a pit.

Even with the temptation of Muskogee, I am going the IH35 route. The radio traffic is the main reason. I was thinking some of those sites would reach over from IH35, but I was wrong. One day they will join the rest of the state. Analog drives me nuts.

Thanks for the responses.
