Okla City Police and Fire are not on 800 yet. So you won't have problems listening to them. There new system will come online in March of '05.....I think....around then. But as Fireant said, Edmond, Norman, OHP, Shawnee, and Tulsa are all on MOT 800 Smartzone which your 785 without the card will do fine with!

Tulsa police are in the process of going digital, almost all of the field units cars have been upgraded. i was one of the first people to get to hang out in the brand new mobile command post, 4th of july at the fireworks show, it has all astro units in it and it is all ready to go. if any of you ever get the chance to see it do so, it is very impressive.

It will stil be a while before wide spread digital usage. It is first going to some of the specialty units. Not all patrol officers have them yet. Another problem is the reserves dont have any of the astros. They will have to get them first. I have heard specialty units by the end of the year and hopefull the rest next year. All of this probably depends on the budget.

That makes sense, and is kind of what I expected to happen. Thanks for the update. I get to put off buying that digital scanner a little longer. Whew!!

The Tulsa city budget is calling for upgrading radios for fire, police and public works. They planning if for FY 2004 and FY 2005.
