Apparently at some point during the night OK Turnpike Authority shut down the Turner, Will Rogers and (maybe) Creek Turnpikes. OHP was bailing the stranded motorists out all night long. News had an OTA rep on that said this is the first time in OTA history that they can remember shutting down three turnpikes at the same time (I just can't remember which three exactly). If you saw the OKC news you saw the mile or so line of semi rigs parked front to back along the side of the highway waiting to go on up the Turner. I guess old man winter moved right up 44 so that is probably where it was worst.
Officials do expect them to reopen this morning as they are cleared up some.

My only thought, too bad it stopped because that was a cool storm (no pun intended). It just rotated like a hurricane and kept sending down the good stuff!

I drove by the Turner OKC entrance this morning on my way to work at 6:00 this morning. There were semi's on the on and off ramps and on the bridges for 15th, 33rd and Memorial roads in Edmond. 122nd street looked like a parking lot.

On the way home at 4:00 it sounded like the Turner was still having major problems. Wrecks at the 201 ant 207 mm and quite a backup at the toll terminal. Toll takers were complaining that they had not scraped the snow around the terminal and they were afraid that someone might run into one of the toll booths.
