Last night after seeing a movie at Harkins Bricktown, I decided to punch in Oklahoma University Hospital "800" trunked system.

(1) The only TG that popped up was: 00016 (Maintence)

(2) From Bricktown, going East, the Control channel stayed on until, Reno and roughly Air Depot, with my pro-95 laying in the passenger seat!!

(3) What's the big secret (why is this system low-powered?), if want to you can listen to O.U. Police on 453.9000, they seem to be interesting to listen to , because they do have jurisdiction to make traffic stops around O.U.

I doubt there is any secret involved. Can you imagine the RF chaos there would be if EVERY hospital, mall, school had a powerhouse station? There isn't a need for a hospital to radiate any further than a few blocks outside of its boundaries. I'm surprised its even a 35 watt system. Plus, I would imagine that the equipment and licensing fees for the high watt transmitters are much higher as well.
