• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I was in the Mojave Desert north of Kramer Junction late last week through the weekend and forgot to listen for the desert folks here on the various channels mentioned. I did happen to make a 125mi shot in AM mode to the Los Angeles harbor area over a couple of mountain ranges and also to a guy called Golddigger who was near Palmdale at the time. I've heard Golddigger before on a past desert trip claiming to be running 10kW from his truck and would liked to have seen what that looked like.

At that power level, he's got to be wearing his heavy duty tin foil hat and codpiece.

I heard the Golddigger got into an accident that destroyed his 10kW truck but I really wanted to see something like that with 6 or more alternators and whatever kind of amp is used. Then there is the antenna that has to survive that kind of current and potential corona discharge.

Well, I was listening to him today and apparently he's putting out 3800 so he must have got his new rig hooked up somewhat.

Most likely running Mr. Coiley or 10KW Penetrator

Don't know what he's running. But all you need to run 10k is a is (1) leece 250 ac 3phase (1) 6.5 dc alt to light the tube. And a 250 dc as a driver. I'm putting my beast back together. Hope to have it ready in a few years.

Think I heard that conversation. Did he mention something about taking a waverunner down the aqua-duct? I was just north of Rosamond Drylake, on Edwards AFB. Knowing that I hadn't tuned my antenna, yet, I didn't dare transmit.

I don't remember any mention of a waverunner or aqua-duct that night. He was mostly telling me about an accident where a speeding cop car hit his truck broadside and destroyed it. There was also a short discussion about prospecting, gold, etc. The other guy I made contact with 125mi away that night was the 383 in the Los Angeles Harbor. I would have had a good shot into Edwards AFB had you keyed up.

I don't know why Dave Made amps have such a following. They are the bottom of the barrel, cheapest made things you can imagine. The circuit board traces are simply cut out with a dremel tool and parts are mounted upside down dead bug style.

This is the most basic cost saving approach you can make when bread boarding a proof of concept design, but this guy ships finished products to customers built like this. Low pass filters have to be used external because there isn't any in the amp. They are just big harmonic generators.
