Does anyone know where I can download the old 3.7x DOS versions of Trunker? I'm trying to go back to one of the old versions that works properly with Type I/Type IIi fleets. Tried downloading from the Yahoo Trunker group, but it looks like the links are dead.

Thanks!

Really? weird... they don't for me. Yeah if you can nab some of the older ones I want to try them with my dataslicer and see what works with Type I and IIi systems. I don't recall if 381 does... so I'm thinking we may have to dip into the 3.70's. I know some of the 3.8xEC (Eric Cottrell) versions work for a bit, then stop working. Eric did some great work bringing DOS Trunker up to speed the past few years, but somewhere along the way Type I trunking got broken. Unfortunately neither Trunk88 or UniTrunker work properly on these systems either so it's time to break out the old DOS box.

I don't think you'll see better results on an older version. Version 3.83 - or a recent derivative - should work for you. Did you set the fleetmap? What exactly is broken?

From what I recall with the Dos versions.. somewhere around v3.81 or so... You would set the Fleetmap and all the parameters for Type I and it would work for a few hours, then revert back to showing Type II talkgroups. I have a Type IIi system that I monitored successfully for years using the 3.7x versions and after an upgrade somewhere along the way it stopped working. With the versions of UniTrunker I've tried, I would again set the fleetmap but it would not seem to have any effect what so ever. Type II talkgroups would still show (it's been a while since I've tried though). I'll give UT another twirl today and see what it does.

You might be mistaken about the fleetmap for your Type IIi systems. The later versions of Trunker would recalculate and change the fleetmap when sufficient data were available. This would usually happen after a Patch or Multiselect event. Also, when the system type is set to I and Type II radios are detected, Trunker automatically changes the system type to IIi.

The problem with trunker is that I would set the fleetmap and it would automaticly change it to another fleetmap.

The best results I have found so far is trunk88 in dos mode works not bad. The windows version is giving wrong talkgroups, but its a good start.

Type I handling in the Windows version of TRUNK88 has been fixed in version 4.72; I should be uploading it later tonight.

Woo! Very nice! :) I had reverted back to m381 for the time being. I'm trying to log a very busy Type IIi system here in London and it's been frustrating. I 'old' version of UniTrunker (with the DOS style GUI) I can enter my custom fleetmap but it does not display Type I talkgroup ID's. In the newest latest/greatest UniTrunker I can't even find where to change the fleetmap.

FYI, I did my testing using data from the Stelco system and used the following setup:

System Type: 4 (Hybrid / IIi)

Talkgroup Display Format: 4 (TrunkTracker)

Alternate Talkgroup Display Format: 0 (hexadecimal)

Radio ID Display Format: 2 (decimal - Type I IDs display as <fleet>-<unit>)

Alternate Radio ID Display Format: 0 (hexadecimal)

I'm doing some testing here now and it looks to be working quite well. I'm getting the proper xxx-xx Type I group ID's and I'm using hex radio id's. Thanks for the great work!

That's good news. With no Type I traffic here, that code doesn't get much testing. If you run in to any odd behaviour, just let me know.
