• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

There's a certain "6W1073" (a.k.a. "Storm Bringer") in Portland who occasionally keys up on 17 and sometimes 19, and has been on CB since he graduated high school in the mid-'50s. Just chewed the fat with him for a bit earlier this PM. The stories he can tell...

CB Radio and License info

I love reading at this CB radio post. Ah the good old days.........I filed a FOIL form with FCC to get my old CB info; and FCC doesn't want to play nice. Told me they don't have those records and since it took less than two hours to look, I would not be charged, but if I went any future to have them look for my old CB license it would cost me? Wish I could find my old license, but just moved and have no idea. But now I have General Ham ticket, but did just buy a new Galaxy DX 959 and put up a dipole and since I live close to I-90 in Upstate NY,I talk and help trucks when I can. I use to run a CB in my patrol vehicle and assit truckers and then retired and drove truck for over 20 years. So the CB kind of got me into my second employment field!.

Well 73 and catch on the flip side..............

can someone please post a "straight" and not "soiled" copy of a CB License so we can redo our old license in photo shop. Maybe make it an attached file.

Thanks

This poor subject has been through the mill a dozen times here in RR.
They do not have copies or records of your old CB license. They were
issued when things were done by hand and on typewriters. When they
computerized everything, there was no reason for them to keep them
since licenses were no longer required.
Everything went to the incinerator and land fill....
