*OLD* MARCS Shutdown Discussion

May 3 - 0800 hour: Getting a lot of traffic on TG 5168 through the Lima tower. The conversations (2 males) seemed to revolve around court cases.

Edit: Further traffic from female about positioning in parking lot until she is advised that subject has left home. Could be paper service.

From my research TG5168 appears Bureau of Workers Compensation, Region 3.

- I've heard "BWC" mentioned" several times on the TGs below
- Matched up several last names spoken against the State of Ohio Employee Phone Search (State of Ohio Employee Phone Search)
- Refer to a Garfield Heights and Canton office, BWC has offices in both cities
- I've also heard 'paper service', subpoenas, 'allegations paperwork' mentioned

The last names that were spoken lead me to believe it is BWC's Office of Special Investigations.

Also the names for the TGs below have been spoken on the respective TGs so I'm pretty sure they're right.

Heard Units 304 and 315 checking MARCS reception/coverage on TG62624 Ashland County statewide interop, then they switch to TG24288 referring to it as "TAC2". Units 3xx matches Ashland County numbering schema for Ashland County SO.

Heard via the Lima tower on TG 5136 at around 0840 on 07/19/2011:

"59 to 48 on Region 1"

Nothing else identifiable and they then went to telephone.

Stark County traffic

I'm hearing a lot of traffic on 20880 and 41488 on the Stark County site. It is for the Hall of Fame activites,parade and 5k races, but they are not listed on the Stark County site.

20880 was transportation and parking and some coordination at the HOF balloon fest.
I did not hear much out of the other. Will have to listen some more this week.

OSP put out a missing person alert on 45648 earlier. I've also heard a couple of OSP planes on it today, and a traffic stop. The dispatcher is "Columbus." It doesn't seem to be patched to any other District 6 talkgroups.

Edit: It's been pretty active for the last two hours, all routine stuff that sounds like it's all in Franklin County.

The traffic from 45648 seems to move to or from District 6 Event 1 every so often. Today, for example, all the same sorts of traffic have been on Event 1, but yesterday evening, it was on 45648. (A BOLO just got put out on Event 1 but not 45648.)

I'm hearing what is identified as COLUMBUS TG 1840 here in northern Summit County apparently on the Beechwood control channel. But nowhere in any TG list does 1840 appear. Columbus shows up as TG 1792. What am I missing here??

You are picking up "Columbus PD Citywide Talkgroups" off of the Franklin County Public Safety System. Just maybe one of the freqs. are the same as the MARCS system in your area and it's just skip from them. I have come across this as I travel around the Columbus area.

Yes, 868.0375 appears in Lake Co. and 868.7750 appears in Wayne Co. Of course I forgot to save the log

It was traffic enforcement traffic and I thought I heard I-71 ... which, of course, is pretty much in the entire state.

1840 is District 6 (Columbus) Event 1, which is frequently used in Franklin County (and is sometimes patched to the mystery talkgroup I posted about last week).

Don't know how I missed that! I Ctrl-F-ed "1840" on the MARCS Database page but got hits on 5 digit number that started with or ended with 1840. I think that is more likely ibagli than Scott's response.

Uh, he said he was in northern Summit County; not likely to have been the Franklin County system. In fact, highly unlikely. It's a good system, but not that good.

It was about noonish and in between rain storms and propagation sometimes is enhanced.

It was a one time deal and it "could" have been "skip", but more likely the situation ibagli mentioned.

Columbus 45648 showed up in my log today at 1620 local and several times before. I wasn't around to hear the radio but the log was running.

TG 15024 - October 26, 2011 at 0850, Lima tower

Appeared to be traffic between Auglaize County dispatch and their units.

seems sheriff, st.marys, wapak,cridersville, unioplis are on 15024. have not heard minster or new bremen on marcs yet. the old dispatch t.g. and 15120 seem to be silent for now.
