gburg - what did you heat them say?

I wasn't really listening to what they were saying cause i was saving several new talk groups in a radio shack 2096 that i just picked up. I was able to find all other talk groups but not this group i will pay more attention if i hear that group next time!

TG 35408 -- Unknown Correctional Institution - perhaps even an FCI?

"Zone 13 clear", "Zone 14 clear", "Zone 15 clear", "Control", "that's my restraints on the individual", and I think a couple units like 162 / 163 or 62 / 63.

Heard off of 6F10-050 (Germano / Harrison Co)

I'm unaware of any correctional facilities around these parts -- closest being FCI Elkton. But I wasn't hearing this traffic off of any Columbiana Co towers. I don't recall hearing the traffic off of any other towers surrounding Germano either. So I question whether the institution is around these parts. It could just be a roaming mobile/handheld that happens to be in Harrison Co.

I'll keep monitoring.

ok mike heres more fuel for you to ponder

35504

This is also a Correctional Institution talkgroup maybe even a duplicate of the TG mtindor mentioned in the previous post because the transmissions I have been hearing on this TG for the last month echo verbatim the context of the ones he provided, the only difference is the TG # and the tower site... I am hearing this TG off the Kirkwood tower in Belmont County whereas he is hearing 35408 off the Germano tower in Harrison County (about 45 miles N-NW of Kirkwood).

In other weird MARCS news, Hancock County's sheriff and fire dispatch TG's have been randomly hitting the Kirkwood tower for about the same amount of time... Due to the distance involved, I find it very odd that this is continuing to occur...
It doesn't happen every day but it does happen at all hours of day and night and then it only stays active for about an hour or so each time.... very baffling...

Dec 5, 0530 - 0630, Lima tower

TG 45648 - traffic such as "292 to Columbus", "signal 42 Alum Creek", with dispatch responding accordingly. Other unit numbers heard: 224, 800, 770, 178, 1037, 1688, 657. There were additional units and signals which I didn't catch.

It seems that several of them were "en route to the academy".

Mylan,

If your picking up Hancock SO and Fire down there, Chances are that someone from one of those departments was in your area and their radio affiliated with the kirkwood tower, So long as they had their radios on SO and Fire dispatch the system will carry the traffic down there so that their radios can still communicate up here in Hancock County. That explains why sometimes you will hear dispatch from other areas, and other times not. It's all a matter of someone's radio affiliating with the tower it's closest to. HCSO often transports prisoners down to CRC in Piqua, so as they are traveling south their radio is continuously affiliating and registering with each tower that it passes. Or if a deputy is traveling out of the county for personal reasons and decides to take their radio with them.

Got a bunch of hits on unlisted TG, 45648, all units where clg Columbus OSP dispatch. One of the radio ID's was 18182.

There's a submission in the queue for it. It's the new OSP post/unit/whatever discussed in this thread.

Has this been confirmed, or is it a guess?

Edit:
Never mind... I added it, if there are any changes we can make them later.

In Allen County...

I had heard several months ago that the TGs for Bath and American Township fire departments might be converted to countywide OPS channels. Based on traffic heard today, I believe that at least one (Bath - TGID 38544) has been converted to OPS 4.

Confirmation is needed.

I'll try to get that tomorrow.

Thanks Mike. There was a lot of radio testing going on yesterday. In anticipation of this change, I had alarmed the Bath and American Township TGs. I wasn't looking at the scanner when I heard them refer to OPS 4 but, based on the alarm that I heard, I'm pretty sure that the change was made.

The more I think about this talkgroup, the sillier it seems. By law, the responsibility of OSP is traffic enforcement on the state's highways, and while a special unit for directed patrol in specific high-risk areas is perfectly understandable, why do they need a separate talkgroup? Just means more work for the dispatcher....

13536: Granville Fire talking to the Licking County 911 center. 13520 also exists, but it wasn't active long enough to hear anything.

TG 9760: i picked it up driving just south of delaware, ohio on I-71.

Maybe a local PD TAC or 'vice' channel based on the conversation. Definitely wasnt generally dispatch.

possible to get 'cross-talk' in ohio when using control channel only mode?

I was wondering it is at all possible to get any kind of cross-talk in ohio, from one trunked system to the other that is the same type.

What I mean by this is, lets say you are listening to Ohio MARCS and are in Summit County ohio. Summit county ohio has the summit countywide trunked system.

Both systems utilize a mixed analog 3600 bps control channel / motorola digital voice.

If you were listening to MARCS via control channel only mode and only had the MARCS control channel programmed in, would it be possible to accidently pick up a summit county talkgroup conversation? This would with using a wildcard set in your marcs TG list.

Im using a psr-500.
Thanks

N.Canton FD

Hey guys, I've been hearing North Canton FD (Stark County) on Canton's site. All I've pretty much heard is them transporting from and to, to different hospitals. The TG is 25136. I caught something yesterday about mutual aid but didn't catch it all.
