Icom America Inc. announces the creation of Icom America Systems, an enterprise of their Land Mobile Division. This enterprise will create high quality "turn key systems" that can be sold and installed by land mobile dealers as innovative solutions for their customers. There are currently only a handful of communications providers – Kenwood, Motorola and E.F Johnson - capable of providing these systems, making Icom America part of an elite group of Land Mobile solution providers.

"This will be a high growth area in the next few years as companies look to install their own solutions and break free from the National infrastructure," explains Chris Lougee, Vice President of Icom America Inc. "Companies will now be able to install a custom designed system and not have to accept the currently available 'one size fits all' solutions that have expensive equipment, recurring fees and are subject to busy signals as system loading increases."

Land Mobile dealers can provide these "systems solutions" to the emerging Private Carrier Dispatch (SMR) and Private Carrier On-Site Trunking (PMR) markets.

This development will allow customers and dealers to work together in creating a fully customized solution for any business need. Any business entity that requires a private or public communications system accessible to multiple users - including warehouse users, trucking firms and public safety agencies, among others – will benefit from the flexible technology and personal service now possible.

Icom America Systems offers a complete family of individual repeaters, pre-configured packages of conventional and trunked multi-channel systems that are custom designed to meet the end user's specific application requirements.

"Since each system is unique and comprised of individual components," explains Lougee, "these systems present endless opportunities to adapt and upgrade to newer technology or change to meet the needs of a growing company or changing industry."

As anyone responsible for communications technology knows, designing, building and maintaining systems is both complicated and expensive. Icom America Systems is now able to take those burdens away from dealers and communications companies and can act as "in-house" systems specialists for dealers.

According to Lougee, "The communication solutions provided by Icom America Systems are designed, assembled, tuned, aligned, programmed and tested to the highest industry standards. Our staff of licensed RF engineers has extensive industry experience, and the Icom America team provides professional assembly."

This development means that Icom America, today's fastest growing land mobile radio company, is poised to become a comprehensive communications solutions leader in a high-growth industry.

Icom America's parent company, Icom Inc., was founded in Osaka Japan. Icom is a publicly held Japanese corporation; its stock is traded on the Tokyo and Osaka Stock Exchange. Icom began as an engineering and manufacturing company, making advanced, compact solid-state radio equipment for use by amateur radio enthusiasts. Icom has since grown to become an industry leader with a product line that includes state-of-the-art communications equipment for land and marine use as well as avionics. Icom America's headquarters are in Bellevue, Washington.
