Rebanding Progress and Issues
There is a lot of food for thought in that document. Why would IPSC agree to their "trusted contractor" charging four times the going rate to modify some FCC authorizations. $200,000.00 and no bidding, not even a second quote.
27 million dollar estimate to reband the system. That will be some audit. Watch for some retirements to be announced when the smoke clears.
I've watched the system go on the air, site after site and I have often thought, they built the southern third of the state after we all knew that the 800 band was going to be divided at 860mHz and they still built it using upper channels. And for that matter everyone knew that Smartzone was at it's end of life, and the south zones should have been built P-25. Many millions tax dollars saved.
All that we can hope for is for some investigating journalism.
