Rebanding Progress and Issues

There is a lot of food for thought in that document. Why would IPSC agree to their "trusted contractor" charging four times the going rate to modify some FCC authorizations. $200,000.00 and no bidding, not even a second quote.

27 million dollar estimate to reband the system. That will be some audit. Watch for some retirements to be announced when the smoke clears.
I've watched the system go on the air, site after site and I have often thought, they built the southern third of the state after we all knew that the 800 band was going to be divided at 860mHz and they still built it using upper channels. And for that matter everyone knew that Smartzone was at it's end of life, and the south zones should have been built P-25. Many millions tax dollars saved.

All that we can hope for is for some investigating journalism.

And, as usual with the Daniels adminstration things are a mess and cost taxpayers more than they should.
That's why our state is broke, right?

Oh wait, never mind, its not. I was thinking of the 44 or so other states that are.

Are you still mad about the switch to daylight savings time or just upset that your fellow Democrats took it in the shorts?

lol, I think your the one who's confused...just as confused as Daniels. One day Daniels touts that the states in great finacial shape and hasn't laid anyone off, the next day he laid off 200 people due to money problems and cost cutting. Gutless, they notified those 200 INDOT workers by email.... sure, the states in great shape....
As for the daylight savings and Demos.... I could care less, politicians are ALL liars and thieves it doesn't matter what party they are with.

My dad worked for INDOT for 24 years. I worked there as well. If 200 people got laid off, then it was only a start. That place was top heavy with corruption and laying off 200 people who didn't really accomplish anything (and I know some who got laid off, all of them political hires who couldn't justify their existance) was the best thing that could happen. The employees at INDOT complain and complain and complain, but the fact of the matter is they have better equipment, better leadership, and a better pay scale than they had ten years ago.

hello all im looking for the safe-t channel that replaced the point 2 point channel

thanks Tim
No SAFE-T talkgroup took over Point to Point, many places still use Point to Point. Others use their Regional MA-1 for traffic that used to be on Point to Point. It varies throughout the state.

Ok, I'm surprised no one asked what was up....start looking for new talk groups....they added 175, many on Sunday it seems. Some were busy, others just one or two hits. I believe this is partly for rebanding and the partly for the changeover to all digital. Some of the groups appear to be extremely busy and I think those are DOC with 2,000 hits in one day on one group. Unfortunately I didn't notice it until I went through the days logging on Unitrunker. Anyway it makes sense since the state has in the past taken old analog groups and replaced them with digital then re-locate the old analog groups eleswhere as digital. With this number of groups it would appear these will be the new DOC and INDOT groups for the most part as those are all analog.
It will take a while to post all the new groups but I'll do that later tonight, they are on another computer anyway.

Connect Tones

I noticed on the SAFE-T System ID List that next to the system ID there are connect tones. What are these used for and are they significant to the listener?

In short, connect tones are used to provide access to the voice channel repeaters like the way that PL tones do for non-trunked repeaters.
