Unless they have a department rule about it, there is nothing wrong.

Of course it will get a lot of media play, and will be deemed as a horrible thing, and then a rule will be created and the unfortunate medic will be strung up and shot at. (figuratively)

Sounds to me like somebody in the administration is wrapped a little too tight if they're
making an issue out of this. Over the years I've heard everything including the "F" bomb
on Omaha's radio system. How about a "Let's not do that again, folks" to the paramedics
and tell the media to move along?

How about a big "F-U" to the media, by explaining that;
1) It did not harm, and
2) it calmed the kid, which
3) probably calmed the patent, which
4) is proper care!

When I posted that, I had the same thought, if it calmed the kid down, great. I actually thought it was kind of cute and wish they had it recorded.

In the medical profession, it's called "bedside manner."
Highly recommended by 9 out of 10 doctors, needs no prescription
and may be applied liberally.
