To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Anyone know the last XLP code release that's compatible with the final RPM release before they switch OMAP support exclusively to RPM2?
Browsing through Tech-Link I found that 14221-1800-8000 Rev. G, dated November 2016 shows XLP R2D compatible with RPM R14A or later and 14221-1800-8000 Rev. J, dated March 2017 shows XLP R3C compatible with RPM2 R3B or later and also a footnote that reads "XG-25P Rev. A hardware is NOT backwards compatible with XLP versions earlier than R3A and BurnApp versions earlier than R13D. See Section 5.1 for more information". Section 5.1 deals with the downgrading of Rev A and later hardware. Problem is Tech-Link doesn't have the SRN for Rev. H November 2016 which was for the R3A release.

I believe that R3A would be the last RPM 14C compatible version of XLP code for the XG-75/25/15P, all of which I will need, However my XLP library begins at R4A24 for the XG-75P and R4D03 for the XG-25 & 15P. I'd like to get a copy of 14221-1800-8000Rev. H to confirm R14 A or C compatibility then the corresponding XLP code.

I'm using XLP R06M03 on multiple XG radios with RPM14 without issue. They don't really advertise that it works with RPM14, but it does. I'm also using it with M7300s (or XG-75M, however you want to look at it).

Interesting, I was wondering if that would work as I'm running XPL R06M03 on the XG-100P's without issue. Granted there is no support for the Unity in RPM2. Can you take advantage of any of the upgraded features using R06M03 within the RPM 14 environment?

Not sure which features you mean.... I'd have to check the SRN for R06M03 but I don't recall much in the way of new features. Nothing I specifically needed at least.

Really at this point you only need RPM2 if you are working with XL-200P etc.. I have both RPM & RPM2 and I still only use 14 for my XG radios. Likely more of a comfort factor than anything.

New features addressed in the SRN's. I don't have any XL radios in my cache, right now it's XG-100P's, XG-75/25/15's and a majority are still P7100's which is why I prefer to stay with RPM, rather than constantly having to hop back and forth. We're also using P7200's for mutual aid runs with the county and State. Once they start integrating XL's into the cache I'll have to switch but I'm just trying to keep things simple.

R6A & R6E are the only recent releases with any new features (mostly for XL radios), everything else is just bug fixes.

And of course for P7200s you'd have to be running XGP code. They stopped adding new features for the 7200s in R4 I believe.

Okay that makes sense. Looking back at the SRN's again I see you're correct. Mostly TR resolutions and minor updates.

Correct! The P52/72/7300 stopped at ECP R16D07 and are not supported by RPM2. Which is why I'm trying to stick with RPM for as long as I can. But all this is good news! I can continue to use one program (RPM) to manage all our radios since we have none in the XL series and I can load the latest code in the OMAP radios (except P7200 of course)!

P7200s will still accept the most recent XGP code (R6 something...). I just updated a couple about a month ago. Out of curiosity I tried backing the firmware down to XGP R02 (to make it RPM10 friendly) and that worked as well.

Yeah, there are no new XLP R3A or later features supported on XG-100P and there are no new features in XLP R06M03 for any radios, just issues being addressed.
