I'm still trying to avoid sending my Argent Data Systems GPS back as defective...just in case the only defective thing is me! When I press the GPS icon on the HP-1, the menu that comes up lists 4 options. The first option is "Ignore GPS" and that is the one that is highlighted regardless of whether or not the GPS is plugged in. Have I somehow set an option that keeps the GPS from even being searched for, and if not, when does the "Not connected" menu option become active? If I do have something switched off, where the heck is the option to turn it back on?

Nothing to turn on/off. Once the GPS has acquired satellites and begins to send location data to the HP-1, the HP-1 shows the status. This means the GPS must have an open view of the sky (for up to 3 minutes the first time you use it...much shorter on warm starts).

That's what I thought, but I've been confused by it not highlighting "Not connected" instead of "Ignore GPS" on the menu. I was afraid I'd missed something else. It would seem logical that "Not connected" would be the default until a signal was acquired, rather than "Ignore" which sounds more like a conscious choice. Under what conditions does the "Not connected" menu button become selected?
