Good catch on those possible talkgroups...as of 7:30 pm both systems are quiet again...unless I don't have the system programmed correctly..which is highly possible.

Thanks w8fcc...my system one has a cc locked on 856.5125...however, I have not heard any audio.

Ya it has been silent for a while now they may be done for the day but some times it gets active over night.

ok for those that have asked I have submitted the talkgroups as they will be programmed into our radios. The first 3 digital zones actually have some voice files in them to identify the channel to what we are on. I saw them posted one time after submitting them but for some reason they were deleted. I don't have any ability to id the talkgroups on a scanner or anything. I don't have a digital scanner and can't find my pro-95 to even see what would pop up as a id if i knew what was being transmitted. I also have no way of converting these to hex or dec at this point. I am asking if a moderator reads my post I will submit the changes again and ask that they not be deleted unless for some reason they don't match. There will be major talkgroup realignment and the individual operations channels for each department will be gone under the new p25 system. The old system will be our fallback if the digital fails. so any of the current MECA talkgroups will remain in the radios. Any of our new digital talkgroups will have an asterik besides the channel tag so we know it's digital. We are not sure when the changeover will take place. This is because not all of our radios have been reprogrammed at this time. This is mainly the xts5000 handhelds that we have are not all done just a handful. So as a user of the system once evey 3 days on c-shift at wayne station 85 I am aware of what is going on and have some information. So just be on the lookout for these names again and have fun with the id's.

Back up order I posted on 2-28-2008

A note on Testing

You will hear PD/FD testing on both of the new P25 systems as sys 2 must support PD/FD operation if sys 1 fails also you will hear training on these and on the consoles witch has for the most part wrapped up. This is that order This is the current plan

New P25 sys 1 PD/FD
New P25 sys 2 if sys 1 fails FD/PD ops takes over sys2
If New P25 sys 2 fails then PD/FD ops moves to SYS 1 OLD ANALOG
If OLD ANALOG sys 1 fails PD/FD ops moves to OLD SYS 2 ANALOG
If old sys 2 fails they move PD/FD ops to SAFE T
If SAFE T fails then all ops moves to Simplex Talk around

New P25 sys1
New P25 sys2
Old sys1
Old sys2
Safe T
Simplex Talk Around
All listed as back up operations if any one goes down

I really don’t want to open another can of worms or debate this since the point will be proven by the end of the week but
262-101 is a system and is fully up and running ready for cut over soon this according to MECA/MOTOROLA
262-102 should be up and running fully by end of week and System 2 cut over operations should begin by this up coming weekend this week is the target date but a slow cut over process to see how the system works. So we will wait and see what happens.

Well I hate to disappoint you but 262-101 & 262-102 are one in the same... ie ONE system as I had said before. Tower 101 is downtown and 102 is the SW side of Indy, there is nothing running at 21st & Post at this time, and it hasn't been on yet according to MECA. This was all verified by 1: a call to MECA and speaking to the head honcho & 2: driving to a friends who lives close to tower 102, to get there I had to go right past the 21st & Post Rd site and it was dead silent on all channels except those in use by SAFET, nothing though on the MECA channels. Third, if they were using 21st & Post I'd get more than 30% decode on both Unitrunker and Pro96Com, I get 60-70% off the downtown tower which is also low power. When at my friends I get 100% off tower 102.... so it is definately on the SW side of Indy.

I am beginning to think that MECA may be trying to get the 700Mhz band for system 1 since they couldn't get the 900Mhz approved by the coordinator. The original plan was to use 900Mhz for both system 1 & 2. Interestingly enough Pro96Com does show 762.00625 so that may be the situation.

I do have a comment maybe you shoul talk to the Head of Motorola that is installing the system and has the facts all meca is doing is riding around in cars checking the zones with Motorola reps and as far as 700Meg they cant get that till after Feb 2009 when Analog TV shuts down and plus the XTS 5000 does not support 900Meg the system they have is for 800 meg only so 700 would not work anyway

Don't know if 900MHz is a typo... But the XTS5000 supports 764-870 MHz trunking
So 700MHz trunking could be added now or later. Or they could do like Ohio and use 700MHz frequncies for mobile extenders, (or other things). And I think when the time comes, MECA will get the 800 or 700MHZ frequencies they need for the "new" P25 system.

Even if they wait for re-banding, and then use the re-banded frequncies, that should fine for them, but they won't have the old system for back-up purposes, but Safe-T should work fine for that.

I agree, right now the first number is system id, the second is tower or site id. And if both show the same as they currently do, then it is the same system. It could be Public Service as I thought they were talking of turning this one on first, and then moving users over.

That is the best way to get information… but I feel sorry for the guys in the office, if they keep getting calls like this every day.

I can’t speak to that, and I’ve already posted what I saw on Southport Rd and County Line Rd.

900MHz ? Are you meaning 800MHz, and I’m sure approval will come, it may take some congressional intervention or pushing, but if the need is there… it will come. I’m thinking the FCC/coordinator is thinking why not just use what they have, especially when it is re-banded. I don’t think they will get approval for two new P25 systems and at the same time keep two old analog systems on the air for mostly backup.

The default tables for Project 25 systems contain both the 700 & 800 MHz tables. You normally see these even if the system is a VHF or UHF system.
Code:
-Tables (Default)
#Format: Table ID,Base Freq,Spacing,Input Offset,Assumed/Confirmed,BandWidth
00,851.00625,0.00625,-45.00000,"Confirmed",0.00625
01,762.00625,0.00625,30.00000,"Confirmed",0.00625

The default band plan is 700 and 800 with hopes public safty will use the 700 band when Analog TV shuts down in Feb 2009 but it has to go through a bunch of stuff with the FCC for aproval and yes MECA tried for 900MHz and APCO turned it down then they wanted 700MHz and was turned down because of the Feb 2009 date so for now they will use WNNM854 Re-Banded part for both with hopes of haveing somthing diffrent later. XTS5000 wont do 900MHz but will do 700/800 But MECA got the 800MHz P25 system. This Band Plan is transmitted in the CC for MECA and aoutmaticly puts it in the Scanner or Computer Program witch is kind of nice no qeuss work
