well when impd changes over this tuesday it will ge real busy on there
What you are talking about is the decode rate. (setting)IIRC, if you had version 2.00.07 you cannot change the P25 settings. They show up on the LCD but you cannot change them.
I have version 2.01.01, which works considerably better and does allow you to change the decode settings. I got that version from UPman. The decode rates are pretty good and the motorboating does not happen as often. It does do a good job on the MECA P25 system.

I've been tweaking my 796D this morning.
I found that my main problem was a weak signal. I moved my outside directional antenna a few degrees and now have full bar strength most of the time from Smith Valley Rd and US 31.
Speedway sounds great. Beech Grove gets a little garble from time to time.
This is probably a dumb question, but why does my signal strength drop a bar occaisionally while scanning? Reflection off of trees? Distance? I'm pointed towards the airport.
Unlike before, at least I can listen to Meca 1 now.

You can change the P25 setting on the 396T after the 2.00.07 Update
Press and hold the Function botton"F" and then turn the volume to change the P25 threshhold setting default is 8 if you do not hold the F key it will only beep and not change.
I thought that was just a "placeholder." But then again they didn't really define what they meant by placeholder.
Can you adjust the ACG settings with 2.00.07? I never tried that when I had it loaded. I went right to the newer firmware when it was available.
