I'm on the far west side of Plainfield, and I'm receiving the new MECA digital system loud and clear with no breakups on my PRO-96 handheld with the original antenna.

The SAFE-T system for this area (Hendricks County -- I assume it's coming from the Plainfield site which is on top of the water tower near Marsh, rather than the Danville site) comes in so strong that it almost overloads the scanner, and I can receive that system perfectly even with the antenna removed.

If you are using WIN96 gg1982, what are your settings?
Can you perhaps take a screen shot of your programming window.
I have been working all day to get my PRO-96 to hear the digital system with no luck.
I am right by the Pyramids and I refuse to believe that I cannot get a strong signal up here.

I even created another thread in hopes someone might help.

If you have any solutions, I'd be excited to hear them.

Thanks.

Just a friendly reminder - the only way to reliably get this system is to have a directional antenna pointed to the closest tower.

WIN96 screen shot from my PRO-96 scanning MECA Digital System 1 is attached. Also, watch your squelch, as mine is set about right in the middle. If the squelch is not set correctly, you won't hear anything.

Thanks. Do you have "Tune Mode" on the first page set to something other than "default"??

A Control Operator/Trainer told me that they (MECA) had agreed to fix the problem so that the radio traffic and the phone traffic would come throught the headset if they were on the phone. When you are on the phone with a Control Op, you could also hear radio traffic that they were hearing. If you were speaking when an officer hit in to Control and didn't immediately stop speaking yourself, you would cover the officer and she would not hear what he had said. The new system also didn't have tape playback. If an Operator missed something, instead of asking the officer to repeat his traffic they would just play back his traffic. This problem was also supposed to be fixed because the C.O.'s said having that capability was a must.

I can't believe how incredibly bad this sounds on MECA. 1 out of 5 transmissions sounds ok. The rest is almost completely garbled.

As for a directional antenna I dont use one and I get it just fine

Okay - well if you get it just fine then I guess the laws of physics are no longer valid! Thanks for the heads up!

Just kidding. Of course it's possible to be in a spot where you don't need that advice.

But if you read through the thread, you will see MANY people who do NOT get it just fine. So you can either continually post that "I get it fine" or I can advise people what their best chance of getting it fine is...

Listening from my office near Methodist Hospital with a BCD396T with firmware 2.00.07. APD DSP sound pretty good--both dispatcher and officers in the field. MET NO1 sounds good on the dispatch side, but some of the officers are garbled. SPD DSP dispatch sounds good, some of the officers have a rushing sound in the background.

MET NE1 dispatcher is now on the air taking radio checks from officers in the field. Mostly good, some not so good.

See how easy IMPD cut over is right now thats because they did Radio and ID checks a month ago on Digital so why did they not do that with the other depts it would have went easy if they had did the checks before.
