It is better for organized meetups and that sort of thing than late breaking local scanner chat.
Since when you connect, you are talking to ALL people who are chatting/browsing RR.com, they can be anywhere.
You can use all of the usual IRC commands and make your own room/channel, but then again, you could just use your own more powerful IRC client and connect to their server to do that.

I'd Just like to throw another option out there, one IRC server I'm familiar with is IRCtoo, you may want to check their site out at: http://www.irctoo.net/ as they have good info on there on how to register a channel using their server as well as other goodies.

The idea of an online chat is a good one, but it would just be a matter of what protocol/servers are used. We could use the method mentioned in the first post on this thread to see how it works.

For those of you joining the chat sessions with Peekko, there is a new version available:

Version 0.3.1
New Stuff

Added button to show the most popular channels
Added Dutch localization
Fixed international suffixes (e.g., #google.com.au)

The popular channel button may be a great way to bring new people into RR. There is a dropdown menu that lists the most used channels on the network.
