Hi there again
i have a problem with my bcd436hp where it only shows the analog systems i put into it, it does not show the P25 trunked systems that i put into it
is there a fix or setting i need to change? help is appreciated
thanks for reading.

Post your Sentinel .hpe export as an attachment here so someone can check it for errors. Could be a disabled quick key, disabled service types, other programming errors or omissions, too many variables & not enough info to go by.
Using Sentinel, highlight the favorites list, click on the File tab, and Export to hpe file (Favorites List). You will need to right click on the exported file and Send to Compressed (zipped) folder to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and Open the zipped folder.

Did you create the P25 systems manually, either via the keypad, or using Sentinel? Or did you append them from the main database. If you created them manually, are you using location on the Favorites list they are in? If so, and you did not enter locations for the sites and departments, the scanner will treat those systems as not in range.

If you appended a statewide system, such as MOSWIN, you can select and only append specific departments. However, for a large system such as MOSWIN, it also appends all of the sites on the system, including those well out of range. If you trimmed down the sites by deleting out of range sites, make sure that you left the sites in range for the Departments you are trying to monitor.

You may want to export your Favorites list into an hpe file. That option is under the drop-down File menu in Sentinel. Export your list(s) and save them to your PC in a folder you can browse to. Use File Explorer to go to your saved hpe files. <Right><Click> on the file, & choose "Send to" from the menu that pops up.

Use the option to send your file to a compressed (zipped) folder. That will create a copy of your file with a zip file extension, whuch can be attached to a forum post,

(That's the same thing that Whiskey3 just posted.)

Did you manually create them in Sentinel, or by appending from the main database.

Unfortunately, the picture you posted does not provide essential details, such as the sites in the systems, whether or not one or more is set as Avoid, and other things.

For that last system in your picture, it's labeled as E911D Trunked. But the only thing you apparently have programmed is a talkgroup. You must also have the appropriate sites for any trunked system.

Try to export your list to an hpe file. Once you 'send' it to a compressed folder, you can attach the zipped file. That way, one of us (including myself) can import it into Sentinel & get a much clearer view of what might need to be added so that it will work correctly.

If you append the system from the main database, then it will have both the talkgroups as well as the needed sites.

What is the actual name of the system you labeled E911D Trunked. I skimmed a few of the Counties around the location you show in your profile, and did not find a system with that name. Of course, maybe I did not look at the correct county.

For a trunked system, a site includes the frequencies used by the system in that area.

See this page in the Wiki for more on how trunked systems work.

For a trunked system, you must have the correct system type, the talkgroups (which are listed by Department), as well as the sites with the frequencies in use,

The TGID you programmed, without any site, is 54101. But if you look at the SLATER system, you'll see that this particular talkgroup is encrypted all of the time:
1653105184405.png

So even if you had the correct site programmed, you would not hear anything on that specific talkgroup. Your scanner skips encrypted transmissions. There is not a scanner that can monitor encrypted transmissions, nor will there ever be. Simply put, it is illegal to listen to encrypted transmissions unless you are an authorized user on the system, with a radio issued to you.

This is the SLATER system in Sentinel's main database (partial shot):
1653105530684.png
Those items in the right side window are some of the Departments you see when you look at the system on it's database page.

Looking at another screenshot, farther down on the SLATER system, you can see the sites listed for the system.
1653105673977.png
This is a shot of the frequencies assigned to one of the sites:
1653105798669.png

For you to successfully monitor the system, you need to have at least one of the sites in range for you, as well as Departments that contain the talkgroups in use in your area. Remember that, in general, a site will only have the talkgroups used in it's area. A "county" site might carry all of the talkgroups in use for that county, plus possibly a few from neighboring areas, if they often work together.

On a statewide system, such as Missouri's MOSWIN, no single site will carry all of the talkgroups on the system. So, a site in your area, near St. Louis, is not going to have radio traffic from units on the other side of the state, say near Kansas City, unless a unit from that area was in your area, on official business, but still had his/her radio set to one of their home county's talkgroups.

would it work if i were to change the TGID to a non encrypted trunked frequency, would it work?

You might consider turning ID Search ON in the System Options tab in Sentinel. That's good if you haven't entered TGID or Talkgroup ID numbers, correctly or at all. Once you get more familiar with your scanner, you can fine tune things, etc.

Also when programming, you might consider just appending everything for a given system using Sentinel. Then turn Location Control On so only the sites and talkgroups that are close enough to monitor, are scanned.

If not already mentioned, there are several good YouTube videos on creating Favorites Lists.

The "E911' system is not going to work at all, unless & until you add the site frequencies. So merely changing a talkgroup, without also added the site details, is not going to work, regardless of whether you have ID Search enabled, or not.

As ofd has mentioned, appending the system from the main database will include the sites and departments. You can append it, then carefully whittle down the Departments that are not of interest, as well as pruning sites that are out of range, or not of interest, as long as you do not remove (or set as Avoid) the sites that cover the departments you are interested in.

See this link for some of the videos posted on YouTube.

There are also some videos linked on the 436HP's Wiki page.

Go to the system's page in the database.

Click on one of the sites. For Site 1-1, St. L. County Urban North, you'd see a map like this partial screenshot.
1653159540167.png

Try the other sites (listed for your county) one at a time, to select the site that best covers your area, and what you want to monitor. That map is an approximation, based on licensing data. You may well be able to pick up more than one site.

The sites listed as being in St Charles, or Jefferson county, may well be out of range from you. Of course, if you have your scanner with you when out & about in the area, you might be somewhere that those sites reach. Remember that if you do not program the Jefferson or St. Charles county sites, you are unlikely to hear any of their radio traffic,

Site 1-7. St. L. County Site on Wheels (SOW) is not a fixed location site. That is a mobile site that can be deployed to an area where the normal site has been damaged, and is out of service. Or, in the case of a major incident, such as damage from a large tornado, or extensive flooding, more communication resources are needed. I would not program that site, but if you decide to do so, leave it set as Avoided unless you know that it has been deployed & activated.

Looking at your screenshot from Sentinel that you posted earlier in this thread, I see that apparently you are collecting warning siren channels for a number of areas, many of them in other states, and obviously out of range from your home location. I took a quick look at some of the locations, and it appears that at least a few of them (as is the case with your home area) nay be using trunked systems, not conventional channels. For any of those entries that really are from trunked systems, you need to have correct system type, as well as the corresponding site(s) and talkgroups.

For your home area, and using the SLATER trunked system, I think the best thing for you to do would be to append the system. For St Louis County, I see some conventional channels for the county OEM department,
1653188018809.png
The first frequency in that list is in Sentinel. (The others, labeled as data channels are not, since the scanner would not be able to accurately decode the data.)

In Sentinel, go to the database section at the top of the left side window of Sentinel's main screen.
Click on USA to expand the list of states
Then, in the state listing, click on Missouri.
Scroll down through the list of counties until you come to St. Louis County. Click on it to expand.
1653188317554.png
Click on the County Systems link.
Under that category, look for the entry with just the county's name:
1653188524413.png
Under that link are various departments using conventional channels.
Here you can find the county OEM.
1653188674473.png

If you click on that name, you'll see the frequency listed for it.

1653188767328.png
If you <Right><Click on that frequency, you'll get the option to append it to a Favorites list.
1653188883433.png
You can then append (add) it to your existing list, or create a new list.

If there are talkgroups on SLATER that you want to capture, you can append those as well. Just be aware that when you append the system, or only one of the listed departments, it will also append all of the sites for the system.

The advantage of appending, as opposed to adding manually through Sentinel or the scanner's keypad, is that when appending, location data is part of what is added to a Favorites list. So, if you were to try and use your list, along with a GPS when traveling, the systems in range would be enabled. If you manually add a site or department, without location data also being manually entered, then the scanner will simply ignore any site or department without location information. Those fields would be blank, so the GPS & scanner would treat them as being at location zero degrees for both latitude & longitude, which is in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Africa. Obviously, that would be treated as well out of range.

If you can be more specific on what parts of the SLATER system that you want to include, then I could be more specific on what you need to do.

Oh ive already manually added the frequencies and they work, i also added their WXNet already as seen here, i also figured out how to add sites, thanks for the help!
