Ontario Counties are now online

[mikewazowski]

Lindsay has setup the Ontario Counties now so we can start loading up the database.

Please submit only frequencies that you yourself have verified. By this I mean frequencies you listen to on a regular basis and are 100% sure of who's on it.

We've deleted a pile of submissions that were obviously not verified. As an example, one submission for a fire department included the County works department's repeater (input and output) as well as the local hydro frequency. As a result, the rest of the data was suspect so it was deleted.

verifying?

Keep in mind that it can be tricky to verify some frequencies....you mentioned a fire dept on a county works channel....well near Peterborough the Ennismore fire dept is on the same channel as the works dept

If you've heard Ennismore fire and works sharing the same frequency then it's verified.

If you haven't heard it then it's still a possibility but hold off on submitting it until you've verified it.

Remember the old Haruteq books? The first edition was comprised of other people's frequency lists amalgated into one big list. Most of the frequencies had never been verified and the first book was probably 75% accurate.

We'd prefer to keep the database as accurate as possible. With people submitting information that they've heard, we can do this. If people start submitting information which hasn't been verified then mistakes can creep in.

It's quality not quantity in this case.
