I programmed the Opelika TRS system into my 396T using the parameters from the data base, but did not hear a peep. Suggestions appreciated.

Opelika has already been rebanded. Have you flashed your 396T yet?

Hmm...I just noticed that I am hearing PD traffic on the old PD VHF repeater. A dispatcher must have it patched with the 800 digi dispatch talkgroup. You will not hear the dispatcher, as it doesn't appear to be set up multiselect, but you get to hear all of the field units. Seems out of place to hear the characteristic digital audio on an analog repeater. Either way, if anyone doesn't have digital capability and can not listen to the Opelika PD...well you can now.

155.670 Mhz analog

Sorry, no. They unpatched it. Probably was patched by mistake in the first place. You may occasionally hear traffic on this VHF repeater, but not much.

So, tell me. Why do you think that the Opelika 800mhz trunking system was patched to the VHF repeater for system maintenance? Do you have inside information or are you just assuming? Just wondering. Thanks.

I ultimately found my "problem" was that I had set the system in my 396T as if it were a P25 system rather than a plain vanilla Moto Type 2. Working fine now (when programmed as 800MHz Type 2)... Not sure what steered me to set it up as a P25, I think I was thinking that if it were rebanded, it must be P25.

No, all that I did to reband the system was to change some of the system frequencies to a lower frequency (including two of the four control channels). The system is still SmartNet Motorola Type II running in mixed analog and ASTRO. I am glad to hear that you got your scanner going with it, though. Happy scanning!
