• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have been running OpenGD77 for a while now, but although it seems to be the ultimate software I just find it too confusing.

I have tried to delete it to reinstall normal GD77 software but I can't get it off my radio.

Can someone help me to delete it....please

From the OpenGD77 FAQ:
Q. If I install this firmware can I return to the official firmware

A. Yes. But only if you backup the Flash, EEPROM and MCU ROM data, using the OpenGD77CPS after installing the firmware, so the Flash memory can be restored prior to reinstalling the official firmware.

You may also post your query over on opengd77.com:

I just installed OpenGD77, did not like it and went back to the original firmware. Keep in mind you can no longer use the same CPS you where using after you install OpenGD77, it will not be able to communicate with the radio. The steps bellow is what I did (in win7) to revert back to the original FW. Just need to download the latest firmware and CPS at the Radioddity website, there are multiple links at the download section.

At the same time of reverting back upgraded the radio from previous FW v4xxx straight to v6.01.00, unfortunately don't have the exact link where I downloaded the file, but I would think it was also on the Radioddity website as well. The file I used that has the v6 FW release is called:
"2021-01-26_GD-77_CPS_&_Firmware_Changelog_Commercial_Part90_Version.zip" and as the name implies contains both the FW, the FW updater, and the corresponding CPS (v3.1.9) to be able to program the radio after the new firmware has been installed.

Download this FW/CPS file and unzip the files to a directory, then run the firmware installer, and from the updater screen browse to the desired firmware file called "GD-77_V6.01_Part 90 Firmware.sgl". Also make sure to select the correct com port on the installer (check device manager to see which port has been assigned to the programming cable). Then click the Download button and the radio should then be updated.

At least for me it worked perfectly and I am back to the original FW without any issues and not having lost the codeplug or anything else that was originally in the radio.
