open records request

Has anyone every done a opens records requested for the a list of what talkgroups go with each county department? Not long ago I ran trucker for about a month straight and have 84 talkgroups in my database. I see only 48 id'ed in the radio reference database for Athens-Clarke County, Ga. I would love to get this database filled out with alpha tags.
If you have written a request I would like to now how you worded it. I will hunt down the person to give it too.

You can submit your unknown talk groups to RR. Somebody may take a look at it and then give the alpha tag information.

Just be polite and up-front about what you're looking for. Mention you're a ham, too. A LOT of the radio techs are into amateur radio and will help you if possible.

You might even provide them with the list you've compiled and ask them to fill in the blanks. That way they don't have to re-create everything for you.

Might try mentioning and researching the "FOIA" (Freedom of Information Act) if you think it's worth it. Only problem I could see is that post-9/11 they might be hesitant to give out communications information.
