I have been hearing some interesting PSP comms on 154.695, sometimes simplex--others as a repeater out.

Norristown, Reading and Harrisburg. I thought these stations were already on the Open Sky system. So this begs the question: Are these comms "patches" to Open Sky, or is OS not working properly and these stations are "back" to the VHF system.

Anyone know??

I'm not sure about the status of the radio system. I can say that I have heard occassional traffic on the old freqs throughout the period of time that they have been on the open sky system. I rarely ever hear the cars end of the conversation only dispatch.

Every now and then, I will hear Reading or Hamburg cars talking to the Harrisburg CDC on VHF if they encounter a location where the 800 radio doesn't work well. The location is documented so the problem can be looked in to.

I don't hear this happen all that often, but I also don't always listen to the local Channel E traffic. Reading and Hamburg would be on a repeater set up on VHF. Simplex must be something else that you are hearing.

I have heard Hollidaysburg PSP (Troop G) use the old VHF station 154.695 several times. Each time i hear the car tell dispatch that they couldn't reach them via Open Sky or that the system wasn't working properly so they called them via the old VHF. I also have heard them on the tac Ch 155.460 and 155.445 talking car to car . Most of the time i hear the trooper saying they can't get out or have no"service" with the 800 radio as they call it. I have also heard Blair County 911 patch PSP cars onto Blair Police frequencies. They tell the local units that they are patched in to PSP so the can coordinate.
