Operating on AC adapter

I know the battery will not charge while using the scanner and I assume that it draws all needed power through the AC adapter. However does the scanner operate on the AC adapter when there are no batteries in the scanner?

Can you mention how much radio time your getting on just the 2 batt pac in the scanner TY.....
