BCD436HP/BCD536HP: Operating without batteries

Read over the manual many times to see if batteries are required to be installed when plugged in to the wall. Doesn’t say except will display no battery. I don’t use rechargeable batteries. If I remove the batteries and plug in to house outlet, when I power on, just cycles the start up screen. If I put batteries in, select do not charge, runs fine. Appreciate any info on this. Thanks.

I’ve been running my old 436HP without batteries for a couple of years without issues. Mine works as expected. Try a higher quality USB cable. That solved issues with my sds-100

It can run without batteries. But I forget which, but either record, or the record buffer (replay) will not work without batteries. Upman has stated that for which ever it was, dummy batts would be needed..

Use mine almost exclusively with the GPS puck when traveling...never put batteries in it, no issues.

Are you sure about that? Just took my batts out and ran on usb cable. Tried to replay something and get this message. I also remember Upman saying dummy batts would have to be used for replay.

Its also stated at marksscanners Batts needed for record and replay

That's what I said BOTH - record and replay will not work without batteries.

Am using the USB cable that came with it. Going to try something else to see if I still have same issue. Thanks for all the replies.
