• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I currently have an NMO mount on the center of the roof of my truck and am considering purchasing a new vehicle. On my current vehicle, the AM/FM antenna is on the corner of the hood of the passenger side and the GPS/Sirius XM antenna is on the front left corner of the roof. The new model year has an all in one GPS/SiriusXM and terrestrial radio antenna at the back of the roof (pictured below). Due to the moonroof, it only leaves a small section towards the back for an antenna install for a dual band (2m/70cm) mobile radio and if I purchased this vehicle, I would likely install the NMO to the right or left of the antenna. I would expect to receive interference on FM broadcast when transmitting on 2meters due to the close proximity to the reception antenna but what is everyone's opinion on possible interference on GPS/Sirius XM reception? I know there is a large spread between those two bands but does anyone have any experience with whether I would likely have interference or not? I've included a photo of the roof of the new vehicle below. Thanks!

I have a 50 watt VHF radio feeding a permanent mount NMO with a 1/4 wave antenna on top of my wife's truck. The antenna is about 18" from the AM/FM/XM/GPS antenna. No issues with it. Have not heard any issues with the satellite radio while transmitting.

I've got a 1/4 wave UHF NMO antenna on my roof about 8" from the factory SXM/GPS sharkfin (similar issue with real estate due to the sunroof). I've had the satellite radio drop out when transmitting on certain UHF frequencies.

I ran two antennas on either side of my AM/FM antenna on my Chevy Colorado and they worked fine. The only issue I had was when transmitting DMR it got into my speakers...even with the radio off. I put some snap on ferrites on the speaker wires and that solved that problem. So you should be fine on the roof you describe. BTW, the Comet B10NMO is a good looking and good working antenna. That's what I had and it was fantastic.
